Movie Mania

OK, so I decided to do a few fun link up ideas from other bloggers that I read.  This one is all about my love of the silver screen.  Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a bit of a cinephile.  I have a great love and appreciation for good movies.

This challenge was to go to the IMDB (the internet movie database), and for every year you've been alive, look at the top 10 movies from EACH year (that's almost 4 decades people).  From these top 10 (per year) make a list of those movies that you love.  You know, the ones you own on DVD, can regurgitate lines from and will watch repeatedly without question.  After you've compiled your list (which trust me, will be massive), post your top 15 choices on your blog.

This list posted a HUGE challenge to me.  When I initially listed the movies that I loved from the IMDB database, it was a massive list (73 movies).  So here is my "whittled down" list of my top 15 in order of their date of release.

ANNIE (1982)

"I don't need sunshine now to turn my skys to blue.  I don't need anything but you"

"Aloha, Mr. Hand"

"Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?"

"Never argue with a Sicilian when death is on the line"

"No matter what anyone tells you, words and ideas can change the world"

"You gonna do somethin'?  Or are you just gonna stand there and bleed?"

"You either get busy living, or you get busy dying"

"My name is Forrest Gump.  You can call me Forrest Gump."

"You'll have bad times, but it'll always wake you up to the good stuff you weren't paying attention to"

"Get in loser, we're going shopping"

OK, I know I'm totally cheating lumping these three movies together, but they are really just one big epically awesome movie, plus it's my blog so I do what I want.  :)

"Sometimes the truth isn't good enough, sometimes people deserve more.  Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded

STAR TREK  (2009)

Kirk: "Who was that pointy eared bastard?"  Bones: "I don't know, but I like him."

"Yeah, no.  Don't put me down for cardio"

"Fear does not work as long as there is hope"

BIG HERO 6  (2014)

"There are no red lights during car chases"

Well, there you have it, folks.  This was a lot of fun to do.  Make sure you let me know if you do one of your own.

I love this much as I am not a huge poetry fan.  It is something I believe to be my personal life philosophy.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself to others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

What a Girl Wants, What a Girl Needs

I've been doing some self-reflection lately.  I have been debating things I need vs things I want.  You know like "I need a new pair of shoes, because I blew out the heel" or "I want to take a trip to Versailles".

Sometimes I have a hard time deciding what I want and what I need, so I have decided to ask my good friend the Google for help.

Erin WANTS a burrito

You know what, Google?  A burrito would be pretty good right now.  I'm never one to turn down good Mexican food.

Erin NEEDS another miracle

Well, I don't know if that's necessarily true.  I guess it would depend on what kind of miracle we're talking about.  I mean, my life is pretty darn good right now.  Although I wouldn't say no to winning the lottery or one of the STARS houses.

Erin WANTS to start Highland dancing

Well, I do need to start some sort of fun new fitness regime to keep me motivated to exercise.  I'm not sure how much sweating and cardio can be gained from Highland dancing though.

Erin NEEDS a kidney

Nope, I think you're off your game a bit today, Google.  My kidney function is pretty normal.  But thanks for the concern.

Erin WANTS this stuff on Pinterest

This is an easy one.  All you have to do is follow me on Pinterest and find the "My Wishlist" board.  That pretty much sums this one up.

Erin NEEDS a new car

Man, I just bought a new car....well van.  But still, Google, I think anything more would be excessive.

Erin WANTS to see you at the show

Wait!  What show?  Am I doing another show?!?  I don't even know what show LMT is doing this year.  But if I DID do a show, I would certainly want to see you all there.

Erin NEEDS to get her shit together

Well, that's a given.  I always feel this way.  I need to get more organized, straighten up my house, lose some weight......yeah, having my shit together would be a good thing.  Sorry I said *shit* mom.  I blame Google.

Erin WANTS to be a zombie

As much as I would love to attain immortality, I don't think becoming a zombie is the way to go.  I'm not much into the idea of eating flesh, or brains, or bones, or whatever it is that zombies eat.

Erin NEEDS to have a baby

Sorry, Google.  Once again you seem to be out of the loop.  My baby having days are over.  As it stands my youngest child is 10.  I am DONE with babies....unless I have more nieces or nephews....or wait a few more years for grandchildren.

Easy Ways To Be Happy

In the monotony of daily life, chasing after happiness can seem like an endless, really big project. And sometimes, it is. But sometime...
